Strategy Bolsters Its Bitcoin Treasury with Latest Acquisition

In a continued show of confidence in digital assets, Bitcoin treasury specialist Strategy has expanded its holdings by an additional 1,045 BTC, valued at approximately $110.2 million. The transaction was disclosed in a June 9 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), further solidifying Strategy’s position among the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holders.

Key Details of the Purchase

The recent acquisition was completed at an average price of $105,426 per Bitcoin. As a result, Strategy now commands a total of 582,000 BTC, amounting to over $62 billion based on prevailing crypto market valuations. This substantial transaction was finalized over the span of June 2 to June 8, funded by proceeds from the company’s recent $1 billion Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock offering.

Funding the Latest Bitcoin Investment

Strategy issued 11.76 million shares of its 10% Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock at $85 per share. After accounting for underwriting and associated fees, the company expects to secure $979 million in net proceeds to fuel further Bitcoin acquisitions and support general business operations. Importantly, co-founder Michael Saylor did not sell any personal holdings to finance the purchase; rather, the capital was raised entirely through at-the-market offerings of the firm’s STRK and STRF preferred shares.

Nine Consecutive Weeks of Bitcoin Accumulation

This marks the ninth straight week that Strategy has increased its Bitcoin reserves, underscoring its commitment to a Bitcoin-centric treasury model. Anticipating the transaction, Michael Saylor hinted at the buy in a June 8 social media post ahead of the official SEC filing. At the time, Bitcoin prices traded just below their all-time high of $112,000 reached in May.

Industry-Wide Shift Toward Bitcoin Treasury Strategies

Since initiating its Bitcoin investment approach in August 2020 with an initial $250 million allocation, Strategy has amassed nearly 2.75% of all Bitcoins that will ever be mined. The firm’s market capitalization has skyrocketed from $1.2 billion in 2020 to an impressive $104.6 billion today. This aggressive Bitcoin accumulation reflects a broader industry trend, with major public companies—including Japan’s Metaplanet and France’s The Blockchain Group—adopting similar digital asset strategies. Recent data from Binance suggests growing corporate interest in adding Bitcoin to balance sheets, with stock prices for such companies seeing notable gains after shifting toward cryptocurrency-focused treasuries.
