You can almost hear the hum of a new menace. Gabriel Luna, fresh from The Last of Us buzz, has signed on for season two of Dexter: Resurrection — and he isn’t just another face in the crowd.
He’ll play Ray Ballard, a mysterious serial killer known in whispers as the "Sleepy-Eyed Stranger." Short name. Big chill. Luna joins a wave of actors stepping into darker corners this season: Brian Cox and Dan Stevens are among the new performers portraying killers, while Bookim Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson also expand the roster. Back in the fold are Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman and Kristen Ritter, each returning to push the story forward.
The first season's finale left a scar: Dexter (Michael C. Hall) unearthed a killer’s file in Leon Prater’s safe — the Prater played by Peter Dinklage, whose obsession with serial murder made him a chilling antagonist. That discovery pointed straight at the New York Ripper. In season two, Brian Cox embodies that very killer, revealed as Dom Frant. He’s a man who claims to have stopped killing. But quiet doesn’t mean harmless. He still haunts survivors with memories and calculated psychological cruelty. And Charlie, Uma Thurman’s character who fled New York at the end of last season, is set to re-enter the fray.
Luna arrives on the heels of wrapped production for season two of The Terminal List for Prime Video and is slated to return as Tommy Miller in The Last of Us season three. His recent credits also include Peacock’s Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy and the feature The Astronaut — roles that show he’s comfortable with dark, complex material.
At the helm is showrunner Clyde Phillips, who returns as executive producer. He’s supported by a heavyweight producing team: Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcus Siga, Tony Hernandez, Lily Burns, John Goldwyn, Sara Colton, Veronica West, Kiersa Rein, Tanner Bain and Katrina Matyusen all hold executive producer credits on the series.
Season two promises to be a chess game of minds, one where new predators and old scars collide. Expect tense encounters, moral puzzles, and a cast that leans into the show’s slipperiest instincts. Stay tuned — Dexter’s next move is about to land.
