Xiaomi 18 Pro’s Super Pixel 2.0: 4,000-nit M11 display

Xiaomi says the Super Pixel 2.0 display on the Xiaomi 18 Pro reaches a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and uses an M11 light-emitting system.

The company announced the upgrade ahead of the handset's launch and confirmed that the Super Pixel display will arrive as part of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series, pairing flagship-level image claims with hardware-level privacy protection built into the panel.

Display hardware and performance claims

Xiaomi describes Super Pixel 2.0 as combining an M11 light-emitting system, a new green light-emitting material, and a full RGB pixel arrangement. The manufacturer says the new green material improves luminous efficiency by 20 percent and that the full RGB layout helps maintain pixel clarity without losses. Xiaomi also claims the panel can deliver clarity comparable to a 2K screen while using about as much power as a 1.5K panel. The company has not published detailed test results; independent verification will be required to confirm real-world performance.

Privacy feature and rollout

Xiaomi confirmed that hardware-level privacy protection is built into the display but has not explained the technical implementation. A leak from August outlined a software feature called Smart Privacy Display that lets users create app groups and assign different privacy-display rules per group, and said the feature can activate automatically for four types of sensitive content: password entry, payments, fund transfers, and messages. Reports that Xiaomi was working on a Samsung-style privacy display first appeared in June; this announcement is the first official confirmation that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will include hardware-level privacy protection.

Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event for September 23 at 19:00 China time, when it is expected to reveal full specifications, pricing, and availability for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. The company has not confirmed whether the Super Pixel 2.0 panel or its privacy features will be available on models sold outside China.
