Global Xiaomi 18 Pro models have smaller batteries

The international Xiaomi 18 Pro appears in HyperOS code with a 6,000mAh battery, while the global Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is listed at 7,050mAh — both smaller than the China-market 7,000mAh and 8,500mAh cells the company unveiled on September 23, 2026.

Tipster Kacper Skrzypek discovered the battery entries in HyperOS strings and published the model-level listings. Skrzypek attributes the global Xiaomi 18 Pro to model number 2609BPN61G and the global 18 Pro Max to 2611FPNFAG; the values in the code differ materially from the China specifications announced at the China launch.

What the leak shows

According to the code entries reported by Skrzypek, the global Xiaomi 18 Pro’s 6,000mAh pack is 1,000mAh smaller than the China version — a reduction of about 14 percent. The global 18 Pro Max’s 7,050mAh entry represents a 1,450mAh drop from the China-market 8,500mAh unit, roughly 17 percent, so the larger model takes the larger absolute and proportional cut. Even with the reductions, the global 18 Pro Max would still have a slightly larger battery than the China-market 18 Pro.

Charging speeds are reported to remain close to the China models, at maximum rates of 90/100W. There are no globally confirmed figures yet for wireless or reverse charging; the China versions support 50W wireless and 27W reverse charging.

Skrzypek reiterated the core figures in a tweet summarizing the code strings: Pro 6000 global/7000 China; Pro Max 7050 global/8500 China (tweet dated September 23, 2026).

Context and unknowns

Xiaomi followed a similar pattern with last year’s lineup: the China Xiaomi 17 carried a 7,000mAh battery while the global 17 launched with a 6,330mAh pack, about 10 percent smaller, and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra moved from 6,800mAh in China to 6,000mAh globally. Xiaomi has not provided a reason for the reductions in the 18 Pro series; the explanation commonly cited in prior coverage points to international transport rules for lithium-ion batteries, especially in Europe, which limit the energy a single cell may carry. Companies can mitigate those limits with dual-cell designs, but that adds thickness, weight and engineering complexity.

Xiaomi has said a global launch is planned for this year but has not shared a date, pricing or markets. The battery figures currently come from code strings rather than an official Xiaomi statement, and they could still change before the phones ship.
