OpenAI launches ChatGPT Space, a shared workspace feature

OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Space at DevDay 2026, a shared workspace inside ChatGPT that lets collaborators manage projects together with ChatGPT and the company’s new personal AI agents, called Dots. OpenAI said the Spaces will house files and project material so teams and their agents can work on task lists, product planning and meeting notes while information updates automatically in the background.

Within a Space, users can keep files they upload or that ChatGPT generates, and organize those assets for easier access across a project. OpenAI described the area as a place where both people and Dots agents can collaborate on concrete items such as to-do lists and planning documents, with the service handling ongoing synchronization so contributors see current information without manual merging.

ChatGPT Space will roll out first to users on the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans in the ChatGPT web and desktop apps, with mobile availability coming later, OpenAI said.

Meeting tools, data protection and integrations

OpenAI also introduced a meeting tool that can take notes, produce summaries and extract action items; those outputs can be added directly to a Space. The company said the tool deletes the recorded audio after it generates the notes. The meeting capability will be available initially in the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS to Pro and Business users, with Enterprise access to follow.

To protect information stored in Spaces, OpenAI pointed to its Private Intelligence system, which the company said is designed to help businesses use advanced models with greater assurance and to protect their data. OpenAI framed this as a safeguard for organizations that want to run sensitive workflows with the new collaborative features.

OpenAI also announced that ChatGPT will come to Slack and Microsoft Teams for Business and Enterprise customers. According to the company, users will be able to summon ChatGPT in channels, direct messages and threads by mentioning @ChatGPT.

Alongside Spaces, OpenAI introduced Pages, a document type where users can generate text, charts, images and other visual content with assistance from ChatGPT, then share the document with colleagues to collect feedback, the company said.
