BYD Sets New Benchmarks with June 2025 Sales Performance
BYD Group continues to dominate the electric vehicle (EV) market, achieving a milestone by selling 377,628 passenger cars in June 2025. This figure represents an 11% increase compared to June of the previous year, almost matching the company’s robust sales performance in May. It marks the highest monthly sales tally for BYD in 2025, solidifying its leading status in the smart mobility and new energy vehicle sector.
Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles Drive Growth
Of the total vehicles sold, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 206,884 units, or 54.8%, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) made up 170,744 units, or 45.2%. BEV sales surged by 42.5% year-over-year, marking three consecutive months where BEVs represented over half of the brand’s passenger car sales. Notably, BYD surpassed the landmark of 200,000 BEV sales in a single month for the second month in a row. In contrast, PHEV sales saw a decline of 12.5% compared to June last year.
Explosive Growth in BYD’s Global Exports
June 2025 also witnessed BYD’s international expansion gather momentum, with exports reaching a record 90,049 units. This represents a remarkable 233.6% jump from 30,014 vehicles in June 2024. The sales data encompasses all BYD-branded cars as well as its luxury and specialized sub-brands, including Denza, FCB, and Yangwang, reflecting BYD’s expanding presence across diverse automotive segments.

Half-Year Highlights and Market Position
During the first half of 2025, BYD delivered a formidable 2,113,271 passenger cars, up 31.5% from the same period last year. The Shenzhen-based giant has set its sights on delivering 5.5 million vehicles by year’s end, building on 2024’s impressive global sales of 4.27 million units.
Commercial Vehicle Momentum
BYD’s commercial vehicle division saw dramatic growth, especially in bus sales, which soared 459% from 5,838 to 32,683 units year-over-year in H1 2025. Overall, BYD’s total automotive deliveries—including commercial vehicles and buses—hit 382,585 units in June alone.
Focus on Electric Mobility and Production Figures
Since April 2022, BYD has discontinued traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, now focusing exclusively on BEVs and PHEVs. This strategic shift positions BYD ahead of key competitors in the shift towards electrification. In June 2025, the company produced 340,570 passenger vehicles, remaining consistent with June 2024’s output. Production comprised 189,079 BEVs and 151,491 PHEVs.

With a strong foundation, BYD is projected to deliver 5.5 million vehicles in 2025 and aims for 6.5 million units in 2026, building on its steady trajectory from 3 million vehicles sold in 2023 and 4.3 million in 2024.
