Massive Ford and Lincoln Recall Impacts Over 310,000 Popular SUVs and Trucks
Ford Motor Company, in coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), has issued a major safety recall affecting more than 310,000 Ford and Lincoln SUVs and trucks. The recall addresses a crucial brake system issue found in multiple 2025 model year vehicles from the two automotive giants, aiming to safeguard Ford and Lincoln owners around the globe.
Electronic Brake Booster Fault: What You Should Know
The underlying problem centers on the Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module, an essential part of advanced braking technology. According to official NHTSA documents, the EBB module may enter a faulted state during driving, particularly if certain Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) are in use. This situation can temporarily disable brake boost until the vehicle completes a "sleep cycle"—essentially, when the engine has been turned off and restarted. Loss of brake boost translates directly to longer stopping distances and an increased risk of accidents, making this recall a top priority for both Ford and Lincoln.
During a brake boost loss, warning indicators such as ABS, ESC, and Brake cluster lights illuminate on the dashboard, often accompanied by an alarm. Drivers may also notice the brake pedal feels different and may travel farther than usual. The EBB modules in question were made by Robert Bosch LLC in the United States. Fortunately, the remedy does not require hardware replacement—just a simple software update, which Ford and Lincoln are preparing to roll out via over-the-air (OTA) updates. Owners may also schedule an update at any authorized Ford or Lincoln dealership at no cost.

Enhanced styling, robust towing capabilities, and the inclusion of the latest ADAS technologies reflect the manufacturers’ pursuit of innovation and safety. The recall is not expected to impact engine performance, ride comfort, or market competitiveness, especially given the rapid software-based resolution.
