Samsung's Exynos Returns to Flagships, Hits 9% Share

Counterpoint Research reported that Samsung's Exynos application processors accounted for 9% of global smartphone chipset shipments in the second quarter, the highest share since tracking began in 2024.

The share rose two percentage points from Q1 and three points from the same quarter a year earlier.

MediaTek led the market with 31% in Q2, followed by Qualcomm at 23% and Apple at 19%, according to Counterpoint.

Taiwan-based MediaTek supplies Dimensity and Helio chipsets across a wide range of premium and mid-range devices.

Counterpoint said the gain was helped by Exynos returning to some Galaxy S26 models and by continued use in mid-range Galaxy A phones. Samsung uses the Exynos 2600 in some S26 variants and kept Exynos chips in the Galaxy A57 and A37.

Exynos processors had fallen out of favour for Samsung's flagship devices for a couple of years but have returned over the past year, Counterpoint said.

Apple's A-series chips remain exclusive to iPhones.
