2027 Audi RS Q5 Sportback Renderings Reveal Design

Digital renderings based on recent spy photos offer the clearest look yet at the 2027 Audi RS Q5 Sportback, previewing a markedly more aggressive exterior and mechanical upgrades that distinguish the first-ever RS Q5 family from the standard Q5 and SQ5.

Exterior revisions and visual cues

The images, produced by Kolesa's Nikita Chuyko from recent prototype scoops, show a front end rewritten for impact. The grille is substantially taller and appears wider, with a horizontal lower slat that accommodates the license plate. Side vents have been redesigned to be narrower and taller, and the lower bumper is chunkier while the headlights, hood and fenders remain unchanged from the regular Q5 profile.

Audi Sport appears to have added wider wheel arches and revised side skirts to support a broader track. At the rear, the Sportback features a taller diffuser, a less eccentric central bumper treatment, and the signature large dual exhaust tips. A discreet lip spoiler is mounted at the center of the tailgate and does not extend to the rear three-quarter panels; the roof spoiler looks similar to the standard car and may receive minor tweaks. Taillight shapes are carried over.

The wheels shown on the prototypes use an intricate Y- and V-spoke pattern and are significantly larger than the SQ5's. The renderings reflect those larger-diameter wheels and a lowered stance compared with the non-R models.

Powertrain, chassis and performance expectations

The new Q5 range is built on Audi's Premium Platform Combustion architecture, the company says, the same base used for the latest A6, Q7, Q9 and A5. Audi Sport is expected to share the RS Q5 powertrain with the RS 5, meaning a twin-turbocharged V6 with electric assistance, an 8-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.

The RS 5 lineup (Sedan and Avant) carries published figures that the report links to the RS Q5 family:

The RS versions will likely receive dedicated sub-menus, RS badging across the cabin, a bespoke steering wheel, exclusive upholstery and trim options, and other equipment tweaks to set them apart.

In the United States the current Audi Q5 and SQ5 are listed as 2026 model year. The RS Q5 and RS Q5 Sportback are expected to reach dealers as 2027 model year vehicles, with the standard SUV and coupe-style Sportback likely to debut together.
