Samsung may fit Exynos 2700 into Galaxy S27 Ultra report

Korean media reports that Samsung may put the Exynos 2700 into the Galaxy S27 Ultra in select markets, including South Korea, following a major leak that suggested the chipset could deliver performance gains over Qualcomm's competing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

None of this is confirmed. Samsung has not announced a decision, and a final call on the Galaxy S27 lineup is still some way off. Still, industry sources in Korea say many figures now expect the Ultra to carry the Exynos 2700 in certain regions while other markets, such as North America, would likely receive a Snapdragon variant.

A calculated split for market share and cost control

The arrangement would serve two clear purposes for Samsung: boost Exynos share in the global smartphone chipset market and trim costs as component prices climb. Smartphone makers are already feeling the pinch from rising memory prices, and Qualcomm is rumored to increase the cost of its next-generation chipsets. Using Exynos in at least one flagship model could help Samsung protect margins without a full-scale platform swap.

That hybrid approach would mirror Samsung's past strategy, where some Galaxy models use Exynos while Galaxy S Ultra phones have typically kept a Snapdragon chip. One would have expected a similar arrangement for next year's Galaxy S27 series, but the view that the Ultra might switch to Exynos in select markets has gained traction in recent reports.

It is still early. The reports trace back to leaks and industry chatter rather than company confirmation, and plans can change between now and launch. The Galaxy S27 series is not expected until next year.
