Galaxy S27 Ultra case leak reveals altered camera layout

New case leaks for Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra point to the biggest rear camera redesign for the model line in years, showing a single raised horizontal camera module rather than the separate floating lens rings used on recent Ultra phones. The most detailed cases and CAD renders indicate two cameras stacked vertically inside that module, with a third camera located in an elongated oval section beside them.

Earlier renders and rougher case outlines suggested the elongated section would hold the telephoto camera, the LED flash, and a Laser AF sensor. The latest, more precise case designs shared by tipster Ice Universe narrow that picture: inside the vertical oval section on the right side of the camera island there are now two distinct openings, the upper one for the third telephoto camera and a smaller circular opening beneath it that aligns with the LED flash.

That change leaves the Laser AF sensor, a laser autofocus component Samsung has positioned at the top of the camera cluster in recent years, unaccounted for in the most recent case renders.

Ice Universe has been posting successive case images to tighten the emerging design timeline. In a September 27, 2026 tweet the tipster wrote: "Exclusive Analysis & Leak: A New Mystery Surrounding the Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Layout. At least four different Galaxy S27 Ultra cases have now surfaced, each with a different level of precision. Interestingly, as these cases become more accurate, they are gradually revealing…" and attached the case images.

The missing Laser AF cutout matters because the component helps the flagship achieve faster and more accurate autofocus, particularly in low light. One possibility is that the Laser AF remains present but occupies a separate cutout elsewhere inside the large camera decoration; another is that Samsung has revised the internal camera arrangement and the sensor is placed behind an unmarked opening. The latest cases do not show a third opening in the elongated section where prior CAD-based renders had placed both the 5x telephoto camera and the Laser AF unit.

As with earlier leaks, these case images show an evolutionary approach: early designs displayed a rough module outline, later ones added defined openings for the main sensor pair, and the most recent versions reveal the two precise apertures in the oval camera area. More leaks and official materials will be needed to confirm the Laser AF location and the final external layout before Samsung's launch.
