Konkr Pocket Block: 3.33in 4:3 LCD handheld from $89

The Konkr Pocket Block ships with a 3.33-inch LCD in a 4:3 aspect ratio at 960 by 720 pixels and a stated 360 pixels-per-inch density.

Ayaneo has unveiled the Konkr Pocket Block, a vertically oriented handheld developed for running classic games. The company says preorders begin at $89, with a limited $10 discount during the preorder period.

Ayaneo describes the device's vertical form factor and its dimensions of 113.2 by 77.4 by 19.8 millimeters, at approximately 165 grams, as recalling the original Game Boy. The front panel houses the 3.33-inch LCD, which Ayaneo says is scaled for accurate presentation of older titles.

Hardware and software

The system is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85; Ayaneo positions the chip as providing sufficient performance to emulate 32-bit and 64-bit classic consoles. Buyers may choose a base configuration with 2 gigabytes of LPDDR4X RAM and 32 gigabytes of onboard storage, or a 3 gigabyte RAM model with 64 gigabytes of storage. A microSD card slot is provided for storage expansion.

The Konkr Pocket Block runs Android 12 alongside Ayaneo's AYAHome and AYASpace interfaces. A 3,500 milliampere-hour battery supplies power. Control hardware includes triggers plus L1/R1 and L2/R2 buttons placed on the rear panel. The unit also features dual-channel speakers, a linear vibration motor, a USB 2.0 Type-C port with PD fast-charge support, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi 5.

The handheld is offered in gray, white and purple finishes. Preorders start at $89 for the 32 gigabyte configuration and $109 for the 64 gigabyte model, with a $10 preorder discount available.
