Lava Shark 2 Pro debuts with 6,000mAh battery and 5G

The Lava Shark 2 Pro ships with a 6,000mAh battery and 18W charging that Lava says takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach a full 0-100% charge.

The phone is launching as a 5G-capable handset that, aside from branding, appears to reuse the same hardware Lava introduced with the Virat V1 Pro in late August. Lava positions the Shark 2 Pro as a 6.75-inch budget device with a large battery and modest display and imaging specifications.

Hardware and display

The Shark 2 Pro uses a 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel at 720 by 1,600 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak 550 nits brightness in HBM mode. An 8MP selfie camera sits in a notch and records up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. The rear features a single 50MP "AI camera" that likewise records up to 1080p at 30fps; there are no additional rear lenses. The phone supports face unlock via the front camera and a side-mounted fingerprint reader with a cited unlock time of 280 milliseconds.

The handset measures 8.7 millimeters thick and weighs 207 grams. Lava assigns an IP64 rating for dust-tight and splash-resistant protection.

Performance, software and battery

Under the hood is the Unisoc T8200, a 6-nanometer chipset with an integrated 5G modem, an octa-core CPU arranged as two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.3 GHz plus six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.1 GHz, and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. Lava ships the Shark 2 Pro with 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage, expandable via a hybrid dual-SIM slot that accepts a microSD card up to 1 terabyte if a second SIM is removed. The company notes the same chipset is used in the Lava 2.

The Shark 2 Pro launches on Android 16 and will receive an upgrade to Android 17, which Lava says will be its last operating system update; the phone will receive two years of security patches. Lava describes the software as "bloat-free" but includes its Vayu AI assistant.

Battery hardware is a 6,000mAh Li-Po unit. Charging is via USB-C 2.0 at 18W and Lava's stated full-charge time is 2 hours and 40 minutes from 0 to 100%. The phone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity includes dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.4.

Lava offers a one-year replacement warranty on the phone and six months on accessories, plus a Free Service@Home program.

The Shark 2 Pro will be sold through offline and online retailers soon at a price of ₹16,700 ($175). For comparison, the Virat V1 Pro is currently listed at ₹16,000 on Flipkart.
