Xiaomi crosses the 40,000 monthly-delivery mark again
Xiaomi's electric vehicle arm announced on Weibo that it delivered more than 40,000 cars in October, marking the second consecutive month the company has surpassed this milestone. As is Xiaomi's custom, the firm did not publish a precise October figure, but the repeated milestone underlines growing market traction in a crowded EV landscape.
Momentum driven by record September
The broader context makes the October claim more meaningful. In September Xiaomi EV posted an exact delivery total of 41,948 units, a new company record and the third straight month of rising totals. September's shipments represented a remarkable 209.37 percent increase compared with the 13,559 vehicles delivered in the same month last year, and a 15.25 percent rise over August's 36,396 units. Those are rapid gains few startups achieve, especially for an automaker that only formally entered the EV market in 2024.

Lineup and market positioning
Xiaomi launched with an ambitious, multi-model approach. Key models include:
- SU7: a mainstream electric sedan introduced on March 28, 2024, positioned to challenge the Tesla Model 3 through competitive features and pricing.
 - SU7 Ultra: a high-performance variant released earlier than the base SU7 on February 27, 2024, showcasing Xiaomi's unconventional product strategy by offering the sportier model first.
 - YU7: the brand's first electric SUV, revealed on June 26, 2024, aimed directly at the Tesla Model Y segment.

This rapid roll-out — three distinct EVs in roughly four months — signals Xiaomi's intent to take market share from established players by offering alternatives in two of the most contested EV segments: compact sedans and compact/mid-size SUVs.
Design and performance notes
While specific performance and range figures vary by trim, the SU7 series emphasizes aerodynamics, tech-packed interiors, and options tuned for higher output in the Ultra variant. The YU7 follows current SUV trends with a higher driving position and flexible cargo space, balancing practicality and EV range for family buyers.

Safety concerns and corporate response
A shadow has fallen over the rollout after a severe crash involving an SU7 last month. The incident sparked public concern about vehicle safety and whether production and testing have kept pace with Xiaomi's fast expansion. Independent safety assessments and regulatory reviews will be closely watched by buyers and industry analysts.
Despite the setback, Xiaomi is already investing in future technology. Local media 36Kr reported on October 28 that Xiaomi EV has set up a dedicated department to research the technological foundations for next-generation products — a move that suggests a longer-term focus on autonomy, battery tech, and vehicle platform development.
Highlights:
- Rapid delivery growth with multiple monthly records
 - Multi-model launch strategy targeting Tesla's best-sellers
 - Recent crash raises safety questions amid fast scaling
 - New R&D unit created to develop next-generation vehicle technology

Xiaomi's combination of fast sales growth, aggressive model launches, and renewed investment in R&D makes it one of the most closely watched new automakers. For car buyers and industry observers, the key questions now are whether Xiaomi can sustain quality and safety while expanding volume, and how its next-generation programs will influence future models and competitiveness in the global EV market.
