Three days. A tidal wave. Spider-Man: Brand New Day didn't merely open — it rewrote the North American box office playbook.
Tom Holland's latest swung into theaters and hauled in $360 million domestically in its first weekend. The day-by-day was brutal: $169.8 million on Friday, $101.5 million on Saturday and $88.7 million on Sunday, across 4,487 cinemas. Those numbers were enough to eclipse the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame, which debuted at $357.1 million in 2019.
What makes this notable isn't just the headline figure. It's the momentum. Brand New Day is already one of Phase Six's centerpieces for Marvel, and its North American opening is only one chapter in a much larger story.

Globally, the film has amassed $927 million so far and is expected to clear the $1 billion mark soon. If it does, it will join two other Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movies that have already crossed that threshold: Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home. For context, Spider-Man: Homecoming finished its run at $880.9 million back in 2017.
The movie was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, marking his third outing connected to the Avengers universe. Critics and audiences alike have been generous: based on 330 reviews tracked by Rotten Tomatoes, critics have rated it 90%, while audience scores sit at a striking 98%—making it the most beloved Holland-era Spider-Man among viewers so far.
There are still weeks of box office to play out. Will Brand New Day become the defining blockbuster of the summer, or simply another record-breaker in a crowded Marvel landscape? Tickets — and the globe — will decide.
