Prague has been hiding a secret set. For months the city’s familiar alleys and industrial corners were repainted, dressed and occasionally barricaded — all to become a fresh, darker corner of the Resident Evil universe.
Images from the set reveal how director Zack Kruger and his crew transformed everyday streets into a post-apocalyptic playground. The Czech Film Commission’s records make the logistics plain: shooting ran from October 13, 2025, to January 21, 2026, totaling 62 days across the Czech Republic. Prague served as the production hub, but the cameras didn’t stop there.
Locations ran the gamut from the Karlin district and the narrow lanes of Jirsíkova and Papírenská, to the Koh-i-noor complex and the Prague Congress Center. The crew even staged scenes at the Třeboradice heating plant, around Milovice, and in the Litoměřice region. Industrial sites and urban backdrops were repurposed to match Kruger’s distinct, grittier vision.

Local production services were handled by Stillking Films, a company with a long track record of supporting international shoots. Stillking confirms its teams were on the ground in Prague from October through January, helping build sets and coordinate the city-wide alterations that show up in the behind-the-scenes photos.
What do these photos tell us beyond slick set design? They hint at tone. Streets stripped of their usual polish. Lighting turned cold. Practical effects woven into real locations rather than relying solely on CGI. All of which suggests a film aiming to blend the franchise’s established horror-action DNA with a more tactile, lived-in menace.
Sony has described this entry as a reimagining of the Resident Evil series. The studio promises that Kruger’s take will revive the franchise’s scares and spectacle while steering it in a new creative direction. The release is set for September 18, 2026 — a date that will answer whether Prague’s makeover captures what longtime fans want and what new viewers crave.
If nothing else, this shoot proves one thing: when a city becomes a character, every cobblestone and factory door counts. Are you ready to see Prague masquerade as a nightmare come September?
