Huawei has launched the Mate 90 Pro Max in China, a camera-focused flagship introduced on October 1, 2026. The device highlights a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED that reaches up to 12,000 nits local peak brightness, a 200MP RYYB periscope telephoto, and an optional 1-inch modular camera aimed at long-range photography.
Cameras and modular options
The photography system places a 50MP main camera at the center, using a 1/1.28-inch sensor with RYYB color filter array, optical image stabilization, and a continuously variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture. It is paired with a 40MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto that also uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor, OIS and RYYB. Huawei states the setup supports up to 4x optical zoom, 8x optical-quality zoom and 100x digital zoom. The package includes a third-generation Red Maple primary-color camera intended to improve color reproduction.

For the Collector’s Edition Huawei offers the Ruiying Z10 module camera, which adds a 1-inch RYYB sensor with 10x continuous optical zoom, a 24–240mm focal range and an f/2.0-f/4.5 aperture. The phone supports 4K video recording. Selfie and portrait tools comprise a 13MP ultrawide selfie camera with autofocus and a 3D depth-sensing camera.
Display, performance and other hardware
The Mate 90 Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch 2848 by 1320 dual-layer OLED panel with an LTPO refresh range from 1 to 120Hz and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. Huawei says the display covers the BT.2020 color gamut and is protected by Kunlun Glass, with the Collector’s Edition using Basalt Kunlun Glass. Power comes from a 6,800mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Memory and platform choices include a 16GB option running Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro. The phone ships with HarmonyOS 7. Connectivity and other features listed by Huawei include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, StarLight E2.0, NFC, eSIM support and IP68 and IP69 ingress protection ratings.
Huawei has priced the Mate 90 Pro Max in China starting at CNY 9,499 for the 12GB + 512GB model, which the source lists as approximately $1,417. The 16GB + 512GB model is CNY 9,999 (about $1,492). Collector’s Edition pricing is CNY 10,999 for 16GB + 512GB (around $1,641) and CNY 12,999 for 16GB + 1TB (around $1,940). Available colors are Rose Gold, Jade Green, Crystal White and Obsidian Black.

Optional imaging accessories include the Ruiying Z10 module camera priced at CNY 5,999 (approximately $900), a complete Pro Max camera kit at CNY 19,499 (about $2,910), and a small rig teleconverter kit for both Pro Max models at CNY 1,799 (around $270).
