Blizzard Entertainment has set a firm launch date for World of Warcraft: Midnight — the eleventh expansion in the long-running MMORPG — arriving Monday, March 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. The announcement confirms a slight shift from earlier leaks and outlines early access, cross-game rewards, and the expansion's major gameplay additions.
Midnight’s story and the Worldsoul Saga take center stage
Midnight is the middle chapter of the Worldsoul Saga, a story arc shaped by returning Blizzard veteran Chris Metzen. The expansion thrusts players back into conflict as Xal'atath, the Harbinger of the Void, tears into Azeroth — focusing her assault on the Blood Elf homeland. A Voidstorm threatens to swallow Quel'Thalas in darkness, setting up tense, high-stakes encounters across new and remixed territories.
What players can expect at launch
Midnight ships with a long list of features meant to refresh both solo and group play. Highlights include a mix of new zones, class updates, and social systems that expand how players live inside the game world.
- Four explorable zones: a merged Eversong Woods and Ghostlands, Zul'Aman, Harandar, and the storm-wracked Voidstorm region.
- New allied race: the Haranir.
- Devourer specialization for Demon Hunters, adding a fresh playstyle to the class roster.
- Eleven Delves, eight dungeons, and three raids for PvE progression.
- New PvP offerings, including a battleground and the Training Grounds made permanent.
- Neighborhoods: the long-requested player housing system (opt-in) and a reimagined Silvermoon City that welcomes both Horde and Alliance.
- Quality-of-life improvements for UI and transmogrification, plus a campaign with branching path choices.

Early access housing and cross-game bonuses
While most Midnight content unlocks in early March, player housing via Neighborhoods gets a head start. Pre-purchasers can access their homes beginning Tuesday, December 2. To mark the milestone Blizzard created the 'Welcome Home' achievement, which also triggers rewards across several Blizzard titles.
- Overwatch 2: Xal'atath Symmetra Legendary skin, spray, name card, and the Dark Heart player icon.
- Hearthstone: a Hearth & Home card back and a limited-time event called "Welcome to the Neighborhood!" with an earnable Epic event card.
- StarCraft II: Horde and Alliance player skins to show allegiance in match lobbies.
Notably, there are no Diablo IV tie-in unlocks this time around.
From rumor to reality
Earlier leaks suggested a February 26 release, but Blizzard's official date shifts Midnight a few days later. It's a minor change, but it gives players a clear day to mark on their calendars: March 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT.
Whether you’re eager to settle into a new Neighborhood, test the Devourer Demon Hunter, or dive into the Voidstorm’s mysteries, Midnight promises to reshape Azeroth’s future — and stitch new threads into the Worldsoul Saga.
