She doesn't need him. Short and sharp. Millie Alcock has been clear about one thing: Kara Zor-El arrives in the DC cinematic landscape to carve out her own story, not to stand in the shadow of Clark Kent.

David Corenswet's Superman returned to theaters as part of the 'Gods and Monsters' strand, and his Clark K—brief but meaningful—crosses paths with Kara in the new Supergirl movie. Those moments matter. They add texture. But they don't define her.

Speaking with Ash Crossan at ScreenRant, Alcock said her portrait of Kara was deliberately independent of Clark. 'My approach to Kara was completely separate from Clark,' she explained, and that separateness made the scenes with Corenswet extra electric because there was an organic friction between the two relatives. Short sparks. Long implications.

Writer Anna Noguera echoed that instinct when she talked about scripting Kara's solo adventure. She pointed out how Superman exists in the cultural mind as a familiar voice and symbol, then praised Corenswet for bringing a fresh layer to that figure. Kara, Noguera added, has always been close to her heart, so the push-and-pull between these cousins felt honest—both for the characters and for the audience who grew up with the Man of Steel.

So what should fans expect? Clark appears only in a handful of scenes: likely a flashback to Kara's arrival on Earth and a later video-call moment that trailers have teased. Beyond those beats, there's no reason for him to steer Kara's arc. Think cameo, not crutch. Supergirl's film lets her lead.
