Tom Brittney Dismisses Batman Casting Rumors with Laugh

Rumors love a good costume change. One day a name floats to the top of the internet tide and before you know it, social feeds are running with a new Bruce Wayne.

Tom Brittney pushed back on the latest whispers during a sit-down on Fox5, greeting the speculation with a grin and a shrug. He didn’t deny his appeal. He didn’t confirm a cowl, either. 'I don’t know anything about that, it’s a crazy rumor,' he said, laughing. 'I have no opinion. I don’t know anything. Just lovely and amazing rumors.' Short. Human. Honest.

The chatter makes sense. DC’s relaunch under James Gunn and Peter Safran is reshaping the cinematic universe, and their first chapter—often talked about as a fresh slate—will introduce a Batman of its own. Fans remember Robert Pattinson’s take in Matt Reeves’ separate storyline, but the DC Universe’s upcoming arc wants its own version of the Dark Knight for the screen.

Brittney isn’t an impossible pick on paper. He already appeared briefly in animated form in Creature Commandos, and he was reportedly among the frontrunners for Superman before David Corenswet landed the role. Add in James Gunn’s public comments in November 2024 expressing an openness to working with Brittney, and you have a perfect storm of plausible casting headlines.

That said, studio silence is deafening right now: DC has not confirmed Brittney, or any other actor, for The Brave and the Bold.

Remember: The Brave and the Bold remains in the writing stage, and there’s no release date on the calendar. Andy Muschietti is attached as director, but sources indicate the Bruce Wayne casting won’t be finalized until the filmmakers lock down a clearer creative vision. In other words, names will keep spinning until the script and the director’s approach dictate the right tone—and therefore, the right face beneath the cowl.
