Jessica Chastain Returns in Netflix Thriller Heartland

Nashville looks different at night. Shadows lengthen. Neon hums. And a missing voice can pull a legend back into the spotlight.

Netflix has just released the first official images from Heartland and dropped the film's release date, teasing a slow-burning mystery that smells of whiskey and old stage lights. The film is directed by Shana Feste and features Jessica Chastain in the lead, joined by Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch, Jennifer Nettles and John Hawkes.

Heartland arrives on Netflix on November 13, 2026.

Chastain plays Misty Jones, a retired country-music icon who thought her performing days were behind her. Then her niece — a rising young singer with everything to lose — disappears. Misty doesn't just step back onto a stage; she steps into a hunt. She follows a thread through smoky clubs and backroom deals, following whispers as much as evidence.

What makes this a thriller is less about chase sequences and more about atmosphere. The new images suggest a film that lives in details: a backstage mirror, a setlist folded into a pocket, a hallway that remembers every lie. Feste’s direction promises slow revelations — secrets that tie the city's present to Misty's past and force her to confront choices she left behind.

Supporting performances add texture: Hedlund brings brooding weight, Faith represents the fragile promise of new talent, Lynch and Nettles color the Nashville tapestry, and Hawkes hints at the kind of moral gray areas this story will explore. Together they shape a world where fame and danger are two sides of the same coin.

If the images are any indication, Heartland will trade flashy twists for creeping dread and emotional truth. Will Misty find her niece? Or will the city keep its secrets? Either way, the film is shaping up to be a mood piece — one that asks whether coming back is courage or consequence.
