Picture a chocolate castle the size of a broomstick and the smell of cinnamon drifting like a spell through a studio — that’s the shorthand for what’s coming back. Food Network has quietly greenlit a third season of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking, and the news landed with extra sparkle when James and Oliver Phelps, the real-life twins who once played Fred and George Weasley, broke the update to fans.
The show first arrived in November 2024, pitting pastry pros and cake artists against one another to craft edible tributes to the wizarding world. It wasn’t a vanity exercise. Familiar faces from the films—Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis and Bonnie Wright among them—have popped up, lending the series an odd, comforting authenticity that feels less like product tie-in and more like a love letter to the franchise.

But season three won’t be a carbon copy of what came before. The two earlier runs were filmed at Leavesden Studios in the U.K., the very stages where the original Potter films were shot. Those locations gave the baking show an atmospheric link to the source material. Now production is moving to Canada, and reports say budgets will be tighter. New country. Leaner crew. Same appetite for magic.
Format changes are on the menu too. The upcoming season will adopt a tournament structure: teams will compete as representatives of the four Hogwarts houses—Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Imagine quidditch-style rivalries translated into cake towers and enchanted pastries. Dramatic? Absolutely. A bit competitive? You bet.

Expect season three to debut in late 2026 on Food Network and to be available for streaming on HBO Max.
Betsy Aiala, president of Food Network, framed the renewal as part celebration and part bold creative push—this year marks a big anniversary for the film series, and the network wants to lean into that momentum with more ambitious challenges, iconic settings and what she called “magical surprises.” In short: they’re doubling down on spectacle, even if the setup looks leaner behind the scenes.

And there’s another factor that could lift interest even higher: HBO’s new Harry Potter series is slated to premiere later this year. A fresh flagship show will almost certainly refocus attention on spin-offs and companion programming, giving Wizards of Baking an opportunity to capture newly curious viewers who want a lighter, edible side quest through the wizarding world.
No exact air date has been announced. But if you’ve been saving your wizarding-themed cookie cutters, now’s the time to dust them off — the next round of broomstick-inspired bakes is on its way.
