New listings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate the Samsung Galaxy S27+ may lack ultra-wideband support, a connectivity feature present in Samsung flagships since the Galaxy S21+. The listings show UWB only on higher-end S27 models.
MIIT model listing and UWB support
According to the MIIT listings in China, only the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are recorded as supporting ultra-wideband.
- Galaxy S27 — no UWB listed
- Galaxy S27+ — no UWB listed
- Galaxy S27 Pro — UWB listed
- Galaxy S27 Ultra — UWB listed

Impact on tracking and accessories
If the listing is accurate, omission of UWB would prevent the Galaxy S27+ from providing the precise spatial tracking used by Samsung SmartTag 3 and similar accessories. The S27+ would instead rely on Bluetooth 6.0 positioning, which the MIIT listing implies is the only supported method and which provides coarser location accuracy compared with UWB-based tracking.
Timing and possibility of error
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to arrive in early 2027, and the MIIT record covers four models: S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. There remains a possibility that the listing is incorrect; the presence or absence of UWB in a given model could still change before launch.
