Brazil-based virtual artist Kleber Silva, known online as KDesign AG, has published a CGI reimagining of Jaguar's Type 01 under the Freelander name, and the rendering underlines how readily the Type 01's styling can be adapted across related brands.

The timing matters. Jaguar's Type 01 is the marque's most powerful road car to date, a dramatic liftback that pairs glamorous industrial design with a performance electric drivetrain: three electric motors producing 1,016 horsepower and 1,007 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar says the car will sprint to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, carry perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and use an evolved 850-volt architecture with a 118-kWh battery pack said to be good for up to 450 miles (WLTP) and up to 320 miles at highway speeds. The Type 01 measures 206.4 inches in length and 55.24 inches in height and, as presented, features no rear window.

Jaguar began a brand reinvention around two years ago, winding down older nameplates and previewing the new direction with the Type 00 grand touring coupe. The Type 01 followed, and the model has already attracted 50k expressions of interest. That initial interest has generated positive attention, but whether those leads convert into firm sales is still an open question.

Digital artists have been quick to expose how closely design cues can travel within a family of brands. Earlier this year one CGI project imagined a Range Rover sedan built around the Type 01's design ethos. Silva's Freelander remix takes that idea further: he has recast the Jaguar Type 01 as a model for the Freelander marque, showing how relatively small changes can shift the same basic architecture into a different badge context.

Freelander remix highlights brand overlap

The CGI makes a clear point: the Type 01's visual language is highly transferable, and with headlights from the Freelander SUV plus modest front and rear fascia changes the liftback reads as a different brand with little structural alteration.

Silva's rendering places the Type 01 within the Freelander identity used by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture. Freelander is already a revived nameplate for that joint venture; to date the company has announced the Freelander 8 full-size SUV only. In Silva's interpretation the most notable practical change is the addition of a rear window instead of the Type 01's full rear panel, but otherwise the silhouette and proportions remain instantly recognisable.

The sequence of images from independent designers illustrates a wider challenge for premium automakers: distinctiveness is a declared goal, but many contemporary EV design cues move easily between marques and joint ventures. Silva posted his Freelander-Type 01 remix under the KDesign AG handle, while Freelander as a commercial brand remains represented officially only by the announced Freelander 8 full-size SUV.
