Geely reveals the new 5th-generation Emgrand
Geely has released official photos and key details of the all-new fifth-generation Emgrand sedan. The redesigned gasoline model grows in size, adopts a refreshed exterior and interior, and receives a much stronger turbocharged engine—signaling Geely's intent to keep the Emgrand competitive in the compact sedan segment.
Quick highlights
- Length: 4,815 mm, wider and longer than the outgoing model
- Engine: 1.5T producing 133 kW (178 hp) and 290 Nm
- Top speed: 200 km/h
- Interior: 14.6-inch floating touchscreen with Flyme Auto cockpit

The current fourth-generation Emgrand sells for roughly 68,900–86,900 yuan (about 9,700–12,200 USD). Since its 2009 debut, the Emgrand family has achieved notable commercial success—surpassing four million units sold this June. Production remains centered in Zhejiang province, China, with additional assembly in Egypt for export markets.
Design and exterior updates
Geely's new look features a polygonal waterfall-style grille composed of 12 vertical trim strips, a sparser pattern compared with the outgoing Emgrand. The headlamp graphics have been revised and are reported to offer illumination exceeding 170 meters. At the rear, slim, elongated taillights are linked by a trim panel that carries the GEELY name, while the lower bumper receives silver detailing and twin exhaust outlets to underscore the sedan's sportier stance.

Dimensions and cabin
The fifth-gen Emgrand measures 4,815/1,885/1,480 mm (L/W/H) with a 2,755 mm wheelbase—substantially larger than the previous generation (4,638/1,820/1,460 mm; 2,650 mm wheelbase). Inside, the cabin has been modernized with a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, a full LCD instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating central display running Flyme Auto. Chrome accents are used selectively to lift perceived quality.

Practical touches include a center console with 50W wireless phone charging, retained physical buttons for frequently used controls, and an updated gear selector design.

Powertrain and performance
Power comes from a new 1.5T turbocharged engine rated at 133 kW (178 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, a meaningful upgrade over the outgoing 1.5L's 88 kW (118 hp) and 150 Nm paired with an 8-speed CVT. Geely claims a top speed of 200 km/h for the new model, which should translate to improved real-world performance and overtaking capability.

Market positioning
With larger dimensions, modern tech features and a stronger engine, the 5th-gen Emgrand targets buyers seeking value-packed sedans that blend comfort, connectivity and efficiency. The combination of competitive pricing expectations and factory expansion suggests Geely aims to keep the Emgrand a global volume model.
"Bigger, smarter and more powerful" summarizes Geely's direction for the Emgrand lineup—sharpening its appeal in a segment where design, interior tech and fuel-efficient performance matter most.
