Redmi has been teasing the K90 series ahead of its Oct. 23 unveiling, and the latest teasers focus squarely on the K90 Pro Max’s camera. The handset appears to inherit flagship imaging tech from the Xiaomi 17 while packing flagship-grade power and endurance.
Flagship imaging borrowed from Xiaomi 17
Redmi says the K90 Pro Max will use a large 1/1.31-inch main sensor — the Light Fusion 950 — the same high-dynamic sensor introduced on the Xiaomi 17. That sensor promises a wide 13.5EV dynamic range enabled by DXG high-dynamic algorithms, a combination aimed at preserving detail in highlights and shadows.
The optical stack is equally deliberate: a 1G+6P hybrid glass-plastic lens with multi-layer coatings to cut reflections and improve clarity. In short, Redmi is positioning the K90 Pro Max as its most capable shooter to date.
Leaked specs also point to a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto module for long-range shots. Redmi hasn’t disclosed front-camera details yet, so selfies remain a wild card for now.

Power, display and real-world endurance
Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — a chipset built for high refresh rates, gaming, and heavy camera processing. The phone reportedly carries a massive 7,500+mAh battery with 100W wired charging and expected 50W wireless charging for faster top-ups.
The K90 Pro Max is said to feature a 6.59-inch OLED panel with 2K resolution and will ship with Android 16 layered with HyperOS 3. Audio gets a boost from a 2.1 setup that includes a Bose-powered rear speaker, while the chassis adopts a metal middle frame and an IP68/69 dust- and water-resistance rating.
What this means for buyers
Imagine flagship camera quality without the flagship price — that’s the bet Redmi is making. If the Light Fusion 950 performs as promised, photographers get broader dynamic range and cleaner low-light performance. The huge battery and fast charging also turn this into a phone for users who prioritize uptime over ultra-slim designs.
Availability and branding
Reports suggest the Redmi K90 series may stay China-only. If you live outside China, don’t worry entirely: the K90 and K90 Pro could be rebranded for global markets as the Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra, respectively. Until Redmi gives official word at the Oct. 23 launch, treat the international naming as likely but not guaranteed.
Whether you’re tracking mobile photography or hunting for a battery beast with premium hardware, the K90 Pro Max has enough intrigue to watch closely when Redmi lifts the veil later this month.
