Honor Magic8 Lite: Latin America Scores Larger Battery

3 Minutes

Honor is tweaking the Magic8 Lite for different regions — and Latin America is getting the biggest benefit: a noticeably larger battery. Here’s what changes, how it affects weight and charging, and what that means for real-world use.

A heavier battery — and a slight weight bump

Honor confirmed that European Magic8 Lite units ship with a 7,500mAh battery and weigh about 189g. Buyers in Latin America will get an 8,300mAh cell, raising the device weight to roughly 193g. The extra capacity is clear: you get longer runtime at the cost of a few grams.

Not the first time Honor has regional differences

Region-specific batteries aren’t new for Honor. The Magic8 Pro also varied by market (China: 7,200mAh; global: 7,100mAh; EU: 6,270mAh). Charging speeds differed on the Pro too (120W in China vs 100W in EU/ROW). For the Lite, however, Honor appears to have standardized charging: the phone supports 66W wired charging across regions.

Real-world endurance and charging tests

In our hands-on review we tested the European 7,500mAh Magic8 Lite. It scored an impressive 18-hour Active Use Score in our battery benchmark, and charging was brisk — 49% in 30 minutes and a full charge in about 1 hour 10 minutes. With the Latin America model’s larger 8,300mAh battery, you can expect longer runtime. If the Lite keeps the same 66W charging spec, top-up times should remain similar, though larger capacity may add a few minutes to full charge.

What this means for shoppers

  • If you prioritize battery life, the Latin America variant is the better bet thanks to the 8,300mAh pack.
  • European buyers still get solid endurance — and slightly faster everyday handling thanks to the lower weight.
  • Charging speed for the Lite is unified at 66W, so regional performance differences mainly come from battery capacity rather than charging tech.

Honor has officially announced a European launch (expected in January), which strongly implies a Latin America release is planned too, though the company hasn’t provided specific launch dates for the region. Stay tuned for official regional pricing and availability details as Honor confirms them.
