Toyota's C-HR+ arrives in the UK as a focused EV contender
Toyota is gearing up to bring the C-HR+ to the UK market in early 2026, expanding its electric crossover lineup built on the e-TNGA platform. Although the model shares architecture with larger siblings like the bZ4X, the UK-spec C-HR+ is tailored for front-wheel-drive efficiency rather than the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant offered in some other regions.
Powertrains and performance
Buyers in Britain will choose between two single-motor power outputs: a lower-spec 165 bhp (123 kW/167 PS) and a stronger 221 hp (165 kW/224 PS) option. This contrasts with the US dual-motor setup that produces 338 bhp (252 kW/343 PS) and sprints to 60 mph in about five seconds, demonstrating how Toyota has adapted the C-HR+ to different market priorities.

Battery options and charging
Toyota equips the C-HR+ with either a 57.7 kWh battery for the entry Icon grade or a larger 77 kWh pack for the Design and Excel trims. Onboard charging capacity varies with trim: the Icon features an 11 kW onboard charger, while the flagship Excel steps up to a 22 kW charger for faster AC charging sessions.
Trim levels, equipment and features
Toyota has structured the UK range across three main trims, each adding progressively more tech and comfort:
- Icon (base): 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, 7-inch digital driver display, fabric and synthetic leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, 18-inch black metallic alloy wheels, two wireless smartphone charging pads, safe exit assist within the blind spot monitor, and the smaller 57.7 kWh battery.
- Design (mid): Upgrades to the 77 kWh battery, 20-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and a power-operated tailgate for added convenience.
- Excel (top): Premium touches such as suede and leather seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a panoramic view monitor, front cross-traffic alert, touch-sensor lane trace controls and lane change assist. Excel buyers can option a Premium Pack featuring a panoramic roof and a JBL premium sound system.

Pricing and market timing
Toyota’s UK pricing starts at £34,495 for the Icon, with the Design from £36,995 and the Excel from £40,995. Official ordering is scheduled to open shortly after New Year’s Eve, with the C-HR+ going on sale in the UK from January 6, 2026. First customer deliveries are expected to begin in March. The model will also reach the US next year; Toyota will publish US pricing and specifications closer to that launch.

Where the C-HR+ fits in the market
The 2026 C-HR+ targets buyers who want a compact, stylish electric crossover with Toyota's reputation for reliability and a choice of battery sizes to suit different daily driving needs. It competes with other compact EV crossovers that emphasize interior tech and practical range rather than outright performance. For customers who prioritize efficiency and value in urban and suburban driving, the front-wheel-drive C-HR+ presents a compelling alternative to more performance-oriented rivals.

Highlights:
- Choice of 57.7 kWh or 77 kWh battery packs
- Single-motor FWD options in the UK: 165 bhp or 221 hp
- Range of modern safety and convenience tech across trims
Whether you want an economical city runabout or a better-equipped commuter EV, the C-HR+ lineup gives buyers clear, trim-based choices and competitive pricing for the segment.
