Samsung has confirmed a U.S. launch date for its most ambitious foldable: the Galaxy Z TriFold goes on sale January 30, 2025. For stateside buyers the phone arrives in one configuration only — 512GB in Crafted Black — priced at $2,899. It will be marketed as the first tri-fold handset available in the U.S.
A closer look at availability and pricing
After debuting in South Korea and rolling out to select markets like China, Singapore, Taiwan and the UAE, Samsung is finally putting the TriFold on shelves in the United States. The company hasn’t announced any special launch promos, so early adopters should expect to pay full price at launch.

Displays, performance and software that push the envelope
The Galaxy Z TriFold packs two displays: a 6.5-inch outer AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2 protection, plus a 10-inch inner display (opened) at 2,160 x 1,584 pixels and 120Hz. Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The U.S. model ships with 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage.
Samsung preloads One UI 8.0 (Android 16 QPR2) and commits to seven years of major OS and security updates. The software also unlocks advanced multitasking — think three portrait apps snapped side by side on the foldable canvas.

Battery, cameras and extras that matter
Battery life is handled by a hefty 5,600mAh cell with 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Photography is led by a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The primary and telephoto modules include optical image stabilization, and all rear cameras use phase detection autofocus.
- Selfies: 10MP outer and 10MP inner cameras, both capable of 4K at 60fps
- Biometrics & durability: side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IP48 rating
- Extras: stereo speakers, UWB, USB-C and an Advanced Armor aluminum frame

Why the TriFold matters — and where it fits
Imagine a phone that folds open into a near-tablet workspace. That’s the pitch here: a device aimed at power users, multitaskers and early adopters who want premium hardware and a novel form factor. At $2,899 it’s expensive, but Samsung is positioning the TriFold as a flagship statement — and, for the U.S. market, a unique offering.
Expect in-store demos to start ahead of the January 30 sale date as Samsung gives buyers a hands-on preview. For people curious about the future of foldables, the TriFold will be a must-see.
