iPhone Ultra Heads to Mass Production in Late July

Talk of delays has shadowed the iPhone Ultra for weeks. Then, like clockwork, new whispers from the supply chain arrive — louder this time, and oddly specific.

According to Korean outlets quoting Apple supply-chain officials in Korea and Taiwan, the much-discussed hinge problem has been resolved and the device is moving into the final manufacturing phase. Mass production is slated to start in late July. Short. Clear. A big step if true.

What that means in practice: manufacturers have reportedly locked down key specifications — the display, the case, and the mechanical components — and are now preparing factory lines for volume output. Foxconn is said to be responsible for the initial production run, following a first-round trial run carried out in April.

Does this guarantee the Ultra will land on store shelves with the rest of the iPhone 18 family? Not necessarily. Announcement and availability are separate beasts. Still, the pieces are aligning for a September reveal, likely at the same event where Apple unveils the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Supply-chain scoops can be messy. Sources sometimes contradict one another. Yet when multiple nodes — Korea, Taiwan, assembly partners — start humming the same tune, it’s worth listening. If Apple really has smoothed the hinge issue and greenlit mass runs, the Ultra may arrive on stage as planned. Or Apple might surprise us with a staggered rollout. Either way, September just became more interesting.
