A single frame can change everything. A new set photo from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has surfaced, offering the first official glimpse of Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow — and the fandom is already buzzing.

Snow has worn many faces across the franchise: Donald Sutherland lent him the slow-acting menace of old age, while Tom Blyth showed a younger, ambitious iteration in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Now comes Fiennes, an actor whose quiet intensity promises a different shade of the tyrant. What angle will he choose? Cold calculation? Fragile ego? A blend of both?

The prequel takes viewers back 24 years before the events of the original film, to the fraught morning of the Fiftieth Hunger Games — the Second Quarter Quell. Fear thickens the air in Panem. The rules change: twice as many tributes are selected from each district. In District 12, Haymitch Abernathy hopes to keep his head down. He wants only to survive one more day and stay near the girl who means everything to him. Then the reaping calls his name and everything unravels. Separated from family and loved ones, Haymitch is thrust into the Capitol with three other district representatives. He begins the Games knowing the deck may be stacked against him — and yet something in him refuses to give up.

Francis Lawrence returns to the director's chair, reuniting with the franchise after helming Catching Fire, the two Mockingjay films and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The screenplay comes from Billy Ray, who has written previous entries in the series. Together they aim to expand the lore without losing the franchise’s razor-sharp tension.

This first-look image is more than a publicity still; it’s a promise of a new interpretation of a character fans thought they knew. It’s a test: can a fresh face and a familiar universe combine to deliver something unexpected?

Release date is set for November 20, 2026 (29 Aban 1405). Until then, every snippet, still and rumor will be picked apart by eager viewers. Will Fiennes reshape Snow into someone we’ll love to hate all over again? Keep your eyes on the Capitol; the reaping has only just begun.
