TIME singled out the Galaxy S26 Ultra for its Privacy Display, a One UI-controlled feature that narrows viewing angles and can be set to hide the entire screen or selected areas.

That recognition formed part of TIME magazine's recently published Best Inventions of 2026 list, which the publication says highlights products that "have made the world better, smarter, and more fun." TIME named three Samsung products among its selections: the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the 32-inch 6K Samsung Odyssey G8 gaming monitor, and the Bespoke AI Family Hub with Vision AI refrigerator.

TIME's citation emphasizes that Privacy Display has so far remained exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The feature limits off-axis viewing and is integrated into Samsung's One UI, allowing users to enable a privacy filter across the full screen or to obscure defined portions of the display.

The list also notes that, despite the Galaxy Z Fold 8's engineering pedigree and earlier sale date, it did not secure a place on this year's Best Inventions list. TIME mentioned the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in passing as a close rival to Apple's iPhone Duo. TIME credited Apple on the list only to John Ternus and the iPhone Duo; no other Apple products were named.

32-inch Odyssey G8

TIME selected Samsung's 32-inch Odyssey G8 as one of 2026's best inventions for launching as the industry's first 6K gaming monitor. The panel is IPS and delivers a pixel density of 224 PPI. In 6K the monitor supports a 165Hz refresh rate, and a Dual Mode lets users switch to a 3K resolution with a refresh rate of up to 330Hz.

Bespoke AI Family Hub with Vision AI

TIME also recognized Samsung's Bespoke AI Family Hub with Vision AI refrigerator. Samsung's first Bespoke refrigerator with built-in cameras debuted in 2024 but required users to keep logs manually. Earlier this year the Family Hub with Vision AI was updated to use Google Gemini AI and can now identify and automatically log more than 2,000 packaged food items.

Samsung accounts for three entries on TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 list, alongside the other items noted above.
