Apple has updated its base 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac range with the new M6 processor. The 14-inch MacBook Pro replaces a 2025 M5-equipped base model, while the iMac receives its first chip update since 2024, when it shipped with the M4.
Processor, graphics and dedicated neural hardware
The base 14-inch MacBook Pro now ships with an M6 that features a 12-core CPU arranged in a 2+4+6 layout and a 12-core GPU whose cores include Neural Accelerators and support hardware accelerated ray tracing. The MacBook Pro configuration also includes a separate dual 16-core Neural Engine.
The iMac is offered with two M6 configurations. The top iMac model uses the same fully enabled M6 found in the MacBook Pro. The base iMac model uses a cut down M6 with a 10-core CPU in a 2+3+5 configuration and a 10-core GPU; its GPU likewise includes Neural Accelerators and supports hardware accelerated ray tracing. Both iMac models include the dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Memory, storage and networking
The base 14-inch MacBook Pro ships with 16GB of unified memory, configurable to 24GB or 32GB. Apple specifies that only the 24GB and 32GB options deliver the full 170GB per second memory bandwidth, while the base 16GB option is limited to 153GB per second. Storage starts at 1TB on the MacBook Pro, with 2TB and 4TB options available.
Both iMac models come standard with 16GB of unified memory. The base iMac can be configured to 24GB, while the top iMac can be configured to 24GB or 32GB. Apple does not publish separate memory bandwidth figures for the iMac lineup, which the company says results in the 16GB iMac apparently receiving the full 170GB per second memory bandwidth. Standard storage for both iMac models is a 256GB SSD, with 512GB and 1TB options for both models and an additional 2TB option for the top iMac.

Both the updated MacBook Pro and iMac adopt Apple’s new N1 wireless networking chip, which upgrades Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi7 802.11be and provides Bluetooth 6 support. The iMac gain an optional nano texture for the display as well. Aside from the changes listed, Apple says the updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac are otherwise identical to the models they replace.
Pricing begins at $1,999 for the 14-inch MacBook Pro. The iMac starts at $1,499 for the 10-core model and $1,699 for the 12-core model. Both computers will be up for pre-order tomorrow, October 28, and will be on sale Friday, November 6.
