Apple is expected to introduce new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touchscreen OLED displays at its Wednesday night event, according to an exclusive report from Bloomberg. People invited to the gathering are likely to be able to try the new MacBook models after the announcement.
The overall design will remain similar to the current generation, but the laptops are said to be lighter. The notch at the top of the screen is expected to be replaced by a capsule-shaped Dynamic Island cutout, a feature Apple previously used on the iPhone that may take on a new role in the Mac user interface.
Bloomberg reports that the new models will use Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which were introduced in Farvardin (the Iranian month corresponding to March–April). That detail means the primary upgrades for this generation are likely to be the display technology, the addition of touch interaction, and related software redesigns rather than a new class of processors.

Display, touch and pricing
Replacing mini-LED with OLED can offer deeper blacks, higher contrast and more precise control of brightness at the pixel level. Adding a touch layer also raises manufacturing complexity and cost, and Bloomberg says that cost increase is expected to feed directly into retail prices.
Current MacBook Pro models with mini-LED displays and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips start at $2,499 for the 14-inch and $2,999 for the 16-inch in the United States. Bloomberg’s reporting suggests the OLED, touch-equipped base models could be up to $500 more expensive, which in the highest estimate would put the 14-inch starting at $2,999 and the 16-inch at $3,499.
