Visiting music.apple.com/us/ipod reveals a fully functional digital replica of the original iPod, complete with the iconic scroll wheel and a large selection of 90-second sample tracks drawn from the era.
Apple added the easter egg to mark the iPod's 25th anniversary on October 23, 2026. The interactive player appears on the Apple Music website and reproduces the look and basic navigation of the first-generation device.

Accessing the page lets users operate the on-screen scroll wheel and browse menus; Apple populates the interface with 90-second song samples rather than full tracks, reflecting the period represented by the emulation.

Historical specifications and line status
The original iPod was announced on October 23, 2001 and went on sale November 10, 2001. At launch it shipped in 5GB and 10GB storage trims and connected to Mac computers via the 6-pin FireWire 400 connector. The Apple Music page also references multiple iPod variants, including iPod, iPod mini, iPod nano (2nd gen), iPod touch, iPod nano (7th gen), and iPod shuffle (4th gen).
Apple officially discontinued the iPod lineup in 2022, with the iPod touch (7th gen) serving as the last entry in the line.
