GAC Hyptec has revealed its first smart flagship extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) sedan, the A800, at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show. Co-developed with Huawei, the Hyptec A800 is positioned as a medium-to-large premium NEV and is expected to reach the market in Q4 2025 with a target price around 300,000 yuan (≈41,900 USD). The model aims to compete directly with rivals such as the Stelato S9, Xiaomi SU7 and Avatr 12.

Design & Exterior Highlights

The A800 adopts a sleek fastback silhouette with multi-spoke alloy wheels and flush, hidden door handles for a clean side profile. A notable exterior feature is the roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, supporting advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving features. At the front the A800 sports a through-type light strip — officially billed as a 6-meter unit — claimed to be the longest in the world by the manufacturer. The rear features three-bar taillights and an A800 badge flanked by Huawei ADS branding.

Dimensions & Packaging

Official dimensions list the Hyptec A800 at 5,130 / 1,966 / 1,500 mm (L/W/H) with a 3,020 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the medium-to-large sedan segment. Several alternate tail badge designations appeared in MIIT filings (A8, A08, A80) and may reflect nameplate options considered during development. Detailed interior images and trim layouts have not yet been released.

Performance, Powertrain & Range-Extender System

Under the hood the A800 uses a range-extender architecture built around a 1.5T petrol engine. The engine is rated at a maximum of 118 kW (158 hp) and is paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Top speed is declared at 185 km/h according to Chinese MIIT filings. Hyptec has not yet disclosed detailed electric-only range figures, complete motor outputs, or charging performance.

Tech, ADAS & Cockpit

Technology is a headline for the A800: it integrates Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.0 advanced driver assistance system alongside the HarmonySpace 5 cockpit. Together these aim to deliver enhanced driver assistance, connected services and an immersive in-cabin experience tailored for the premium electric sedan market.

Market Positioning & Competition

Hyptec — launched in 2023 (initially branded as “Hyper”) as GAC’s premium NEV sub-brand — currently sells models including the HL, HT, GT and SSR. Sales in July 2025 were modest, with 1,537 units sold and a cumulative 7,992 units for the first seven months of 2025. The A800 will target buyers seeking a tech-forward, larger EREV sedan in the ~300,000 yuan band, competing on technology, luxury features and electric performance against the Stelato S9, Xiaomi SU7 and Avatr 12.

What’s still unknown

Key details still pending include full powertrain specs (motor outputs and electric range), interior cabin images and pricing breakdowns for different trim levels. Expect further official disclosures before the Q4 market launch.
