Realme has officially confirmed that the Realme GT 8 series — including the GT 8 and the higher-end GT 8 Pro — will launch in October in China. A recent leaked poster revealed the phone’s rear design, and today a Realme executive shared key upgrades coming to the GT 8 Pro’s screen and camera.
Display upgrades and eye-care features
Realme executive Derek confirmed significant display improvements for the GT 8 Pro. The panel resolution has been bumped from 1.5K to true 2K, and the refresh rate increases from 120Hz to 144Hz. Peak brightness is also being pushed dramatically, from 6,000 nits to 7,000 nits, while the design changes from a curved edge to a flat screen with larger R-corners.
Realme is emphasizing eye comfort: global full-brightness DC dimming will be enabled by default, a 1-nit eye-care mode is included for low-light reading, and circular polarization protection helps reduce glare. Colour calibration moves from a software-only approach to hardware-level chip calibration, promising more consistent and accurate colour reproduction across apps and brightness levels.

Derek noted that 2K panels demand more power, but improvements in battery energy density let Realme equip the GT 8 Pro with a 7,000mAh-class battery. That larger cell should help offset the higher-resolution display and the 144Hz refresh rate, delivering longer real-world endurance compared with previous GT models.
Another promotional poster confirms the GT 8 Pro will ship with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto module. Aric Song, Realme’s Marketing Communication Director, added that the periscope supports 3x optical zoom and up to 12x lossless zoom — a versatile setup for long-range shots without sacrificing detail.

Taken together, the display, battery and camera upgrades position the Realme GT 8 Pro as a strong contender in the upper-midrange to flagship segment. The combination of a high-resolution 2K 144Hz AMOLED, extensive eye-care features, a very large battery, and a high-megapixel periscope telephoto means the device targets users who want top-tier multimedia, gaming and long-range photography without paying flagship prices.
Realme’s October announcement will reveal final specs, pricing and availability for China — and potentially global markets soon after. Keep an eye out for the official launch date and full hands-on reviews to evaluate performance, battery life and image quality under real-world conditions.
