Skoda Elroq passes 100,000 units as compact EV demand surges
Skoda has quietly celebrated a major production milestone: the compact Elroq has topped 100,000 units assembled in just over 11 months since series production began on January 21, 2025. Built at Skoda's main Mlada Boleslav complex in the Czech Republic, the Elroq's early success underlines strong appetite for affordable electric SUVs across Europe.
Production hub and wider output
The Mlada Boleslav plant is a key facility for the Volkswagen Group. Alongside Elroq assembly, the factory currently produces the larger Enyaq and four internal-combustion models, including the brand’s long-running bestseller, the Octavia, plus the Scala, Fabia and Kamiq. The site also supports BEV traction battery systems on the rear-biased MEB architecture and continues to manufacture EA211 petrol engines and MQ200 manual gearboxes.

Celebrating with an Elroq RS
The 100,000th car rolled off the line in a vivid Hyper Green finish and happens to be an Elroq RS — the range-topping performance model. Skoda's sporty suffix has historic roots, though the company uses the vRS badge in the UK market for trademark reasons (vRS stands for Victory Rally Sport).
How the Elroq is performing in European markets
The Elroq is one of Europe’s best-selling BEVs and leads EV sales in several countries, including the Czech Republic, Denmark and Slovakia. It also ranks among the top three electric vehicles in Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In Germany — the EU’s largest new-car market — the Elroq was crowned the best electric vehicle in its class and German Car of the Year 2026 by a 40-journalist international jury, which praised the model’s value for money.

Trim lineup, pricing and market positioning
Skoda positions the Elroq as an affordable compact electric SUV with wide trim spread and strong standard equipment. European pricing (including VAT) starts from €33,900 for the rear-drive 50 trim and €38,680 for the 60. The 85 is offered in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor variants; 60, 85 and 85x trims are available in SportLine styling. The performance-oriented Elroq RS starts at €53,050, about €3,000 more than the 85x SportLine, and shares the 77-kWh battery with other 85 models.
Why buyers choose the Elroq
Buyers cite a compelling mix of range, practicality and value. The 85 trim delivers industry-leading range in the compact BEV segment, while the RS appeals to drivers who want sportier dynamics without stepping up to a larger or far more expensive performance EV. Fast charging capability and competitive pricing have helped the Elroq carve out a strong position among mainstream electric SUVs.
Highlights:

The Elroq's rapid ascent signals that mainstream, premium-feeling compact EVs can still scale quickly when they hit the right balance of price, range and practicality. For Skoda and the wider Volkswagen Group, the model is now an important volume and brand-strengthening product in the race to electrify everyday mobility across Europe.
