LG has unveiled its 2026 Gram lineup ahead of CES, pushing the series’ signature goal even further: extreme lightness combined with tougher construction and deeper AI integration. The new models pair a novel alloy with on-device intelligence and cloud features to appeal to creators and mobile pros.
Aerominum: aerospace techniques for a lighter, stronger chassis
This year’s Grammakes heavy use of a new magnesium-aluminum alloy LG calls Aerominum. Engineered with aerospace-inspired processes, Aerominum trims weight while boosting structural rigidity and scratch resistance. LG says several configurations cleared military-grade durability tests, making the laptops feel less delicate without sacrificing that featherweight appeal.
Dual AI approach: offline smarts meet cloud power
AI is no longer an add-on. Select Gram models are certified as Microsoft Copilot+ PCs and adopt what LG dubs a “dual AI” strategy — local on-device processing for low-latency tasks, plus cloud-backed capabilities for heavier jobs. That balance aims to keep tools working even when you're offline while still tapping cloud models when needed.
At the heart of LG’s offline assistant is EXAONE 3.5, a small language model (sLLM) that powers the new gram chat. The on-device agent focuses on everyday productivity and creative workflows and is designed to function without an internet connection — handy for travel, crowded conferences, or spotty networks.
Better connectivity: gram Link gets smarter
LG also refreshed gram Link to smooth interactions between Gram laptops and phones, tablets and TVs. Expect easier file sharing, more robust screen mirroring with Android and iOS devices, and tighter integration with LG’s webOS ecosystem on compatible TVs and monitors.

Perhaps the boldest claim is the North America-exclusive LG gram Pro AI 17 (model 17Z90UR). LG bills it as the world’s lightest 17-inch laptop with discrete graphics, packing an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 into a chassis that feels closer to a 16-inch machine. The panel is a 2560×1600 LCD, offering a middle ground between resolution and battery efficiency.
The 16-inch gram Pro AI is no slouch either: it weighs just 1,199 g while housing a 77Wh battery and a vivid 2880×1800 OLED display. Those specs make it attractive for creatives who need color accuracy without lugging a heavy workstation.
LG will demonstrate the new Gram series at CES 2026 starting January 6, with wider availability and regional SKUs coming shortly after. For buyers, the 2026 Gram lineup promises a compelling mix: industry-leading portability, tougher materials, and AI features that actually work offline.
