Samsung might be about to give its toughest wearable a very welcome upgrade: a significantly larger battery. Short answer? More hours on the wrist. Longer answer? That could change how people choose smartwatches.
Recent 3C certification filings confirmed what insiders already suspected for charging: both the Galaxy Watch9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will stick with 10W charging, the same top-up speed as the outgoing models. No boost to charging tech, then. Instead, the focus appears to be on raw capacity.
SamMobile’s latest scoop points to a rated capacity of 784 mAh for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. In marketing terms Samsung may list that as an 800 mAh typical battery. Compare that to the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s 590 mAh cell and the math is obvious — this isn’t a tweak. It’s a leap.

Smaller Watch9 sizes get attention too. The 40mm Galaxy Watch9 is said to carry a rated 382 mAh battery, likely described as 400 mAh typical, up from the Watch8’s 325 mAh in the same size. Meanwhile, the 44mm Watch9 reportedly remains at around 435 mAh, matching the Watch8’s larger model.
