Paperwork can be louder than a rumor. India’s Bureau of Indian Standards has just logged two Samsung entries that remove a thin layer of mystery from the company’s next foldable and flagship wearable.
The wide-format Galaxy Z Fold candidate carries the model number SM-F971B. The BIS listing is quiet on specifics, but the rumor trail is talkative: expect a roomy 7.6-inch inner display with a near-square 4:3 aspect, twin 50MP shooters taking the main and ultrawide duties, and a 4,800 mAh cell that should accept up to 45W wired charging. Weight whispers put it around the 200g mark—surprisingly trim for a large foldable.

- Model: SM-F971B
- Inner display: ~7.6-inch, 4:3 aspect
- Cameras: 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide
- Battery: 4,800 mAh, 45W wired charging
- Approx. weight: ~200g

There’s a naming wrinkle worth noting. Reports hint this wide-format device will wear the Galaxy Z Fold8 badge, while an Ultra-branded Fold—effectively the heir to the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra—may continue as Samsung’s larger, more spec-heavy option. In other words: expect the family tree to branch, not collapse.

On the wrist side, BIS has also approved a new Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with model number SM-L715F. Early leaks suggest a beefy 800 mAh battery and true cellular ambition: 5G support driven by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. That combination would mark a notable push toward more independent, always-connected smartwatches.

- Model: SM-L715F
- Battery: ~800 mAh
- Connectivity: 5G (rumored)
- SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite (rumored)
Both devices are expected to be unveiled at Samsung’s next Unpacked event, rumored to take place in London on July 22.
Samsung has been tightening its hardware story: bolder foldable screens, heavier camera commitments, and wearables that want to cut the cord from phones. If these specs hold up, the company is betting on devices that look and feel more like independent computing platforms than mere accessories. Will that gamble pay off? Keep an eye out—hands-on reviews will tell the rest of the story.
