Honor dropped a stealth release in China: the X70 Pro Max has quietly appeared on store pages, and its headline is simple — endurance. Long days, many photos, and a midrange chipset that suddenly looks a lot more capable.
The screen is a large 6.79-inch AMOLED panel with a 2640 x 1200 resolution and DCI-P3 color coverage. It claims blistering peak brightness up to 6,000 nits and adds 3840Hz PWM dimming for low-light comfort. Short version: the display aims to impress whether you’re outdoors or scrolling at night.
Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced Edition. Honor pairs that silicon with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, and the software stack is MagicOS 10.0 on top of Android 16. If you’re tracking differences from the X70 family, note that OIS has been swapped for EIS here, and wireless charging doesn’t make the spec sheet.
This phone’s battery is the real crowdpleaser: an 8,560mAh cell that supports 90W wired fast charging and wired reverse charging. That’s not a typo. Expect multi-day uptime under light use and very fast top-ups when you need them.
Connectivity and extras are solid for the price tier: stereo speakers, NFC, an infrared blaster, Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-SIM 5G support, and an in-screen fingerprint reader. Honor also lists an unusual combination of dust and water resistance ratings — IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K — which reads like overkill on paper and suggests a focus on durability.
Color options include Phantom Purple, Sunburst Gold, Bamboo Green and Phantom Night Black. Pricing starts at 1,999 yuan (about $300) for the 8GB + 256GB model, while the 8GB + 512GB SKU goes for 2,399 yuan (around $355). For now the handset appears confined to China, with no global launch details announced.
Compared with the earlier Honor X70, the Pro Max swaps in the newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced Edition, upgrades to MagicOS 10 on Android 16, and ups the battery capacity and charging speed. It also gains higher ingress protection and a fresh palette of finishes. That said, enthusiasts who prized the X70’s optical stabilization and wireless charging on higher trims will notice the Pro Max’s pivot toward huge battery life and streamlined configurations — all offerings come with 8GB of RAM only.
So what does this mean for buyers? If your priority is endurance and a big, bright display without spending flagship money, the X70 Pro Max is worth a look. If you prefer optical stabilization or wireless charging, this model deliberately deprioritizes those features in favor of stamina and value — a trade-off that tells you exactly where Honor placed its bets.
