HMD Global may be planning a quiet but clever return to the mid-range ring. Leaks from X tipster @smashx_60 point to two new handsets — the HMD C2 and a slightly souped-up C2P — that lean hard on big AMOLED screens, long battery life, and straightforward software.

The base C2 appears to be no-nonsense hardware done well. A 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole selfie cutout promises crisp visuals and up to 1000 nits of peak brightness for outdoor use. Power comes from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, paired with 6GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. Camera specs read like a mid-range checklist: a 50MP main sensor with EIS, two small auxiliary lenses, and a 50MP front-facing shooter. A massive 6000mAh battery and 33W charging are included, alongside creature comforts such as dual speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and an IP54 splash-and-dust rating.

The C2P raises a few important numbers. Same 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED, but swapped for a smoother 120Hz refresh and a brighter 1500 nits peak. The Honor Play 80 Plus uses a larger battery and the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, but trades down to a simpler camera setup. In short: HMD seems to be leaning into better screens and cleaner software as its differentiator.

Performance expectations are straightforward. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 should handle daily tasks, social apps, light gaming, and basic productivity without drama. These phones are not flagship killers. They are practical, balanced choices for buyers who want long battery life and an OLED viewing experience on a tight budget.
