Another look at Samsung's next wide-screen foldable has appeared — this time in black, and it feels less like a color swap and more like a small rebellion against the old proportions.

The latest dummy unit, reportedly finished in a Graphite tone, follows the white mock-ups we've already seen. At first glance you recognize Samsung's language: flat frame, razor-flat sides, and that vertically aligned pill-shaped camera island. But then your eye notes the tweak that matters: the chassis is visibly wider and a touch shorter than the current Fold7, a subtle rethink of what a large foldable can be.

Notable leaker Ice Universe shared a render that pits the Fold8 against Samsung's own Galaxy S26 Ultra, suggesting the Fold8's cover display is only marginally wider than the S26 Ultra's. In practical terms, that means you could see a cover screen that's closer in day-to-day usability to a flagship slab than previous Fold covers ever were.

Talk of a public debut is already heating up. The rumor mill points to an Unpacked event on July 22 where Samsung could unveil the wider Galaxy Z Fold8 alongside a higher-tier Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Flip8, and two new smartwatches: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch9.
