Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Series Shows Big Battery Gains

Is Apple finally leaning harder on battery capacity? New 3C certification filings have quietly revealed the battery sizes for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and the numbers suggest more than incremental change.

The filings list the iPhone 18 Pro at 4056mAh for the China market and 4288mAh for the US model. By contrast, last year’s iPhone 17 Pro came with 3988mAh in China and 4252mAh in the US. Small on paper, but relevant in real-world use: those extra milliamps add up over a day of heavy use.

The jump is clearer with the Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro Max shows 5391mAh for China and 5567mAh for the US — roughly a 500mAh increase compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 4823mAh (China) and 5088mAh (US). That’s a meaningful leap for a line that has historically favored efficiency over sheer battery size.

3C records are regulatory and hard to fake, so these figures are among the more reliable leaks before Apple’s official announcement.

Why the split between China and US capacities? Manufacturers have long tailored internal layouts and battery cell configurations to regional modem bands, certification rules, and sometimes supply chains. The result: two variants of the same phone with slightly different endurance profiles.

Still, Apple’s approach has been consistent: squeeze more runtime from silicon and software. But Chinese rivals — Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus — have pushed past 7,000mAh in recent flagships, a metric that looks impressive on spec sheets. Combine a larger battery with whispers of Apple’s A20 Pro chip moving to a 2nm process, and the iPhone could narrow that headline gap while keeping the handset slim and thermals under control.

Battery isn’t the only thing showing up in leaks. The A20 Pro is expected to be Apple’s first 2nm chip, promising efficiency and performance gains. Design changes seem modest; however, a smaller Dynamic Island cutout could appear as some Face ID sensors tuck beneath the display. Dummy units of the Pro Max point to a new camera trick: a variable aperture mechanism in the main lens that would physically alter light intake. Rumors say the setup will include three 48MP sensors plus a periscope telephoto. Screen sizes are reportedly unchanged — 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.

None of these details are official yet. Leaks coalesce and shift. Expect more confirmations and surprises as the likely September launch approaches, and prepare to test whether Apple’s blend of bigger batteries and finer silicon finally changes the endurance conversation.
