Volkswagen has started taking orders in the United Kingdom for its first-ever ID. Polo, the brand's electric supermini built on the MEB Entry platform. Initially available in three Launch Edition trims, the range will expand on September 10, 2026, with lower-cost and additional spec variants aimed at broadening the Polo's appeal in the competitive EV small-car segment.

Launch Edition pricing and powertrains

The initial UK line-up consists of:

• Life Launch Edition — from £25,555: 37 kWh battery with a 135 ps (133 hp / 99 kW) motor.
• Life Launch Edition (long-range) — from £28,830: 52 kWh battery and a 211 ps (208 hp / 155 kW) motor.
• Style Launch Edition — from £32,995: uses the 52 kWh, 211 ps powertrain plus upgraded trim and equipment.

Orders for those Launch Editions open on July 30, 2026. From September 10, VW will add more choices to the lineup, including a true entry-grade Life model and several mid-spec options to suit different buyer needs.

The full September line-up unveiled for the UK includes:

• Life 37 kWh, 116 ps — from £23,945 (the new base model)
• Life 37 kWh, 135 ps — from £25,055
• Life 52 kWh, 211 ps — from £28,330
• Style 37 kWh, 135 ps — from £31,745
• Style 52 kWh, 211 ps — from £28,470

These options give buyers flexibility between lower-cost city-focused range and higher-output variants suited for mixed driving.

Equipment and cabin highlights

Volkswagen has differentiated the trims by comfort and tech. Life models come with essentials such as a heated multifunction steering wheel, heated front seats and two-zone climate control. The Life spec that goes on sale in September adds parking sensors, a reversing camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment display, wireless phone charging, a height-adjustable boot floor and selectable driving modes.

The Style Launch Edition pushes further into the premium small-car territory, with massaging front seats, a panoramic glass roof, rear privacy glass, Park Assist Pro, Travel Assist, and Area View camera. Optional and higher-trim items include IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, a front light bar and backlit VW logos, ambient lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and sports comfort seats.

Range, charging and platform

VW quotes a WLTP combined range of up to 281 miles (452 km) for certain ID. Polo versions, making it a compelling choice for buyers who want an EV with genuine everyday usability. Fast charging capability is competitive too: some variants can recover from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes on high-power DC chargers.

Built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB Entry architecture, the ID. Polo shares key components with the ID. Cross, Skoda Epiq and Cupra Raval. Production takes place at the Pamplona plant in Spain, part of VW’s broader strategy to scale MEB Entry vehicles for mass-market EV adoption.
