Ever heard a tablet double as a party speaker? Motorola thinks you should. The company just unveiled the Moto Pad 70 Groove, a metal-bodied slate that leans hard into sound and screen rather than trying to be everything to everyone.

The headline is obvious: a 9-unit JBL Pro speaker array built into the rear. Four tweeters, three woofers and two passive radiators work with Dolby Atmos and pre-tuned modes for Dynamic, Movie and Music. There’s even a Bluetooth Speaker Mode that lets you stream from your phone and use the tablet like a stand-alone wireless speaker. In short: it’s loud, layered and designed to be heard across a room.

Screen tech keeps pace. You get a 12.1-inch 120Hz LCD with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, roughly 800 nits peak brightness and 98% DCI-P3 coverage, plus Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. That combination aims to keep movies bright and colors punchy without the price tag of OLED.

Under the hood sits a Dimensity 7400 chipset paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via microSD up to 2TB. Motorola ships the tablet with Android 16 and promises upgrades through Android 18 along with four years of security updates. That’s solid, but it’s hard not to nitpick: with Android 17 already public, buyers could reasonably expect a later starting build and an extra major upgrade.

Battery life is where the Groove aims to shine for binge sessions. A 10,200 mAh cell promises long playback—Motorola rates up to 15 hours of continuous YouTube—while the box includes a 68W adapter even though the tablet charges at up to 45W. Real-world endurance will vary with brightness and volume, but the hardware leans toward all-day media use.

Little touches matter. A 360-degree metal kickstand on the back lets you prop the tablet in Lean, Theatre, Stand or Hanging modes. The rear camera is 13MP; the selfie camera 8MP. You’ll also find dual microphones, an IP52 splash-resistant rating and a USB-C port. There’s no LTE variant, so this is a Wi‑Fi-first device. Weight comes in at 775g with a 6.8mm chassis that swells to 22.7mm where the speaker module sits. The only offered finish is Pantone Blue Surf.

Price starts at INR 36,999, with sales in India opening August 7 via Motorola’s website, Flipkart and retail partners.

For buyers who prioritize immersive audio and a big, bright display over cellular connectivity or the absolute newest OS build, the Moto Pad 70 Groove is an intriguing pick. It’s a niche play: part tablet, part Bluetooth speaker, part portable media console. If sound is top of your checklist, this one demands a listen.
