Lava's Agni 4N Lands in the UK with AI Features, £499

Think of Lava and you might picture a budget brand quietly improving. Now picture it stepping into a brighter spotlight. The Agni 4N has quietly arrived in the UK, and it brings a surprising mix of flagship-grade hardware, an on-device AI companion, and a clear retail price: £499 on Amazon.

At first glance the phone looks familiar to anyone who followed Lava’s India rollouts. Metal frame. Matte AG glass back. Two colorways—Phantom Black and Lunar Mist. But the specs read more like a mid-range challenger trying to muscle into premium territory: a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Gorilla Glass 5, a 2712 by 1220 resolution, 120Hz refresh, 2,400 nits peak brightness and the capacity to show 1.07 billion colors. Vivid. Smooth. Loud on paper.

Under the hood sits MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350, paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Lava ships the device with stock Android 16, promising two Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches. No skins. No adware. No bloat. That’s deliberate. Users who want a clean Android experience will appreciate the restraint.

Where Lava wants to create distance is with Vayu AI, an on-home-screen, voice-forward assistant baked into the experience. It’s not just voice-to-text. Lava positions Vayu as an intelligent companion offering expert AI agents, text assistance, call summaries, a photo editor that leans on generative tools, an image generator and document analysis. Think of it as an attempt to weave AI into everyday tasks rather than bolt it on as a gimmick.

Photography hardware is straightforward but capable. A 50MP front shooter for selfies. A rear dual system with a 50MP main sensor featuring OIS and an 8MP ultrawide with a 112-degree field of view. Lava says both 50MP sensors can capture 4K at 60 frames per second, which keeps the phone competitive for creators on a budget.

Lava claims a 0 to 50 percent charge in 19 minutes, though the Amazon listing suggests you may need to provide your own power adapter.
