Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported on 05 October 2026 that Apple is expected to launch 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touchscreen OLED panels sometime next month.
Details and what is known
According to Gurman, the new laptops will be "significantly lighter" than current MacBook Pros after Apple changed the internal component structure, though the report does not provide specific weight figures. The machines are expected to feature Apple’s M6 chip, and Apple is reportedly testing the new MacBook Pros on macOS 27.2.

Gurman’s report also says Apple plans to upgrade the iPad mini to an OLED display. That model will likely retain the same 8.3-inch size, and there is no word on any redesign.
OLED panels offer higher contrast and deeper blacks than traditional LCDs and, in these MacBook Pro models, will add touch capability. The timeline and the company’s claims about weight savings and component changes remain those reported by Gurman and Bloomberg.
