Volkswagen has introduced the ID. Unix 09, a mid‑size electric fastback sedan, to the Chinese market. The model arrives in three trims priced from 179,900 yuan (26,800 dollars) to 249,900 yuan (37,300 dollars) and is advertised with ultra-fast charging support and a maximum CLTC range of 755 kilometers, which the manufacturer notes corresponds to roughly 612 kilometers under the WLTP cycle.

Design, lighting and dimensions

The ID. Unix 09 presents a coupe‑like fastback profile with a closed front grille, narrow headlamps and a prominent Volkswagen badge. Available lighting technologies include DLP matrix headlights and interactive LED modules with crystal laser engraving that, according to Volkswagen, can project guiding lane and vehicle‑width indicators onto the road surface to aid night‑time visibility.

Dimensions are substantial: 5,081 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and either 1,509 mm or 1,526 mm high depending on configuration, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. The side view emphasizes a sporty stance, with 21‑inch alloy wheels and Brembo brake calipers fitted on some specifications.

Interior, driver assistance and propulsion

The cabin is equipped with a two‑spoke multifunction steering wheel, a dedicated digital instrument display and a square central touchscreen that includes an AI assistant. Volkswagen specifies an 85‑inch augmented‑reality head‑up display on the windshield, a centre console with wireless charging and concealed cupholders, and a large VLA intelligent driver‑assistance system that supports custom parking, remote parking and automatic reverse along a driven path.

Powertrain choices include single‑motor and dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive layouts. Energy is stored in a 91.963 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack supplied by CATL; Volkswagen states the pack supports 5C charging.

For clarity, a 5C rate means the battery can theoretically be charged at a current equivalent to five times its capacity, enabling much faster recharge times when compatible chargers are used. The ID. Unix 09 also uses a two‑chamber air suspension developed by Vibracoustic, which Volkswagen says is tuned to provide a supple ride.
